SLIM SCHOOL REUNION AZTEC HOTEL, BRISTOL 26TH OCTOBER 2002

Once again Gloria arranged a fantastic reunion at the Aztec hotel Bristol with 125 Slimmers attending. I arrived on Friday late afternoon having been caught up in motorway jams and driving in terrible road conditions.
When we arrived I was greeted by Frank Massey, Ted Jones, Brian Mcdonald and Robert Lownes, this was the start of the 2nd Reunion.
During the afternoon many more slimmers arrived and by 7 in the evening 75 had arrived to start the evening with a curry meal which was arranged by Gloria in the pub across the road. The evening went well with every one having well watered themselves and reminiscing over the past.
Saturday morning after breakfast every one started to mingle in the bar area, the 50s at one end and the 60s at the other end until we were called by Gloria to make our way outside for a group photograph. After the group photograph all made there way upstairs to the conference room where videos of Slim School were shown and photographs laid out for all to see, Tony opened his book stall selling the latest Slim Society Reunion 2002 book and Sarah put on display her craft work which you could purchase at very reasonable rates.

Robin Harris & Robert Lownes showed the photos they had of the 58 to 60s and I produced the famous scout shirt which was worn when Mr Ted Harrison was our scout leader. Lunch, buffet style was served between one and two pm and the open forum mixing went on for the whole of the afternoon similar to the previous reunion.

During the afternoon several comments were made that it was a pity the OZ and Canadian contingency were not present but understandably it is a long way to come so hope to see them all in Sydney 2003.
Saturday evening was the prime event of the weekend, all had to be in the bar area by 1930hrs so as to start the dinner for 2000hrs. Seating plan was displayed at the entrance to the dining area and prior to going into dinner a glass or two of red or white wine was provided. Once seated Gloria said a few words, introduced the disco and Grace was said. During the dinner the Disco played light music.

DINNER
SALAD OF, PRAWNS & PINK GRAPEFRUIT SPICY COCKTAIL SAUCE
SUPREME OF CHICKEN, WITH MOZZARELLA, PANCETTA & TOMATO SAUCE
TIRAMISU OR SUMMER PUDDING
COFFEE WITH CHOCOLATES
During the evening I was at a table with eight other late 50s era, most of the evening talking to Robin Harris and his wife. The disco was good playing the 60s era and the majority of slimmers danced the evening away even Winklepicker Rex managed to stay on the dance floor most of the night.
The following morning bleary eyed at breakfast every one were saying their farewells and having to encounter their journey home in Gale force winds.
A GREAT WEEKEND ENJOYED BY ALL, THANK YOU GLORIA !!!!!
