Stat Lux In Monte

"Upon the hill top stands a guiding light"

THE SCHOOL OF ADVENTURE.

The article accessible via this page first appeared in the July 1955 edition of "The Soldier Magazine" I would like to thank Soldier Magazine for their permission to use this article. As background to this article I also attach some comments from Roger Marshallsay who was at Slim during this period. Roger writes " It is probably a bit over the top, we didn't have a barbed wire perimeter fence to keep the bandits (C/T's) out, but the guards shot at a tiger one night (anyway that's what they said). The picture of the scout hut being built has from left to right Reginald Fielding (master), Kulraj Limbu and Akalsing Thapa. We are not in touch yet with Kulraj but Akal lives in Fleet where I work. The picture was posed, I did most of the work on that particular basha! I can't make out who the girls are on the bank though, that was a favourite spot for GCE revision".

A word of WARNING this is a pretty large file and may take some time to download. It is also not of very good quality when viewed on a browser but if you save it to to your hard drive and view it using some sort of photo application like Paintshop, Adobe Photoshop etc. it is of acceptable quality.
